Click on the photo above or this word Chincoteague to view a nice slide show called Scenes of Chincoteague and Assateague, created by John M. Esparolini. It begins with views of the wetlands along the shores of Chincoteague Island including some shots of shorebirds. Beginning at #12 is a group of photos featuring indigenous wild ponies of Assateague Island, among them some shots of foals only a few days old. The last dozen or so focus on shorebirds again, with a couple showing deer amidst the birds in shallow water just offshore.
It’s an attractive slide show with a variable speed selector at the bottom where you can also pause the show to enlarge an image. A gallery showing the same images is available on another page: choose “thumbnails” at the top of the page, or #2 under Wild Horses at the top of my sidebar.
