This clip features some of top female country stars of the 50’s. Loretta Lynn of course rose to greater stardom in the next decade. A glaring omission is Kitty Wells, but I’ve got three clips of her including It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels which can be found in the sidebar links (under music videos 1950s).
The title, the list, and the medley of mixed short and long clips all come from youtube provider RockinGator. Below is his line-up of performers and songs in this 9:59 video. I cast my vote emphatically for Wanda Jackson after seeing her clip. If there was ever a sexier country performer than this I haven’t found her. But there a many tasty performances here. Country swing and rockabilly were raging and the performers are really enjoying themselves.
Anita Carter – Blue Doll
Goldie Hill – Sample my Kissin’
Jean Shepard – Sad Singing and Slow Ridin’”
Maxine Brown with Jim Ed Brown – Hear the Bluebirds Sing
June Carter & the Carter Sisters with Mother Maybelle – (It’s My) Lazy Day
Mimi Roman – Singing the Blues
Lorrie Collins – In My Teens
LaDell Sisters – Bye Bye Love
Brenda Lee – One Step at a Time
Wanda Jackson – Sparkling Brown Eyes
Loretta Lynn – Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool
Patsy Cline – I’ve Loved and Lost Again
