Blue Kentucky Girl — Loretta Lynn

This single reached number 7 on Billboard’s Country charts in 1965. She introduces it: “This is my favorite song, and a little fella by the name of Johnny Mullins wrote this song.”

“The album [of the smae name] was released off of Decca Records in 1965 and was Lynn’s third studio album of the year and her fourth solo album up to that point. The album’s title track was the song’s only single and peaked in the Top 10 on the Billboard Country Chart in 1965. The album released 12 studio tracks. Four of these tracks were written or co-written by Lynn herself of with another songwriter.”–wikipedia, track listing also from wiki

The black and white image above shows the original childhood homestead of Loretta Lynn and her large family (I’m having trouble getting the entire photo which shows the whole house to fit). She was the second of eight children, born April 14, 1934. This color photo shows a reproduction of the original home, evidently based upon that single black and photo. I’ve only seen that one. The blank space is due to my  inexperience with employing Paint or any other editing software to edit an image.
